چکیده
بخش اعظم مطالعات هنر، در طول تاریخ، در حول مفهوم زیبایی به مثابه مهم ترین کیفیت آثار هنری گردیده است و اگر هم گهگاه سخن از زشتی به میان آمده است غالباً به عنوانِ مفهومِ متضاد یا متناقض با زیبایی بوده است و نه بیش از آن. اما در دو سده اخیر آرام آرام تحقیقات به سمتِ مفهوم زشتی در عالم هنر نیز معطوف شده اند و خود این مفهوم، فارغ از نسبتش با زیبایی، محل توجه و تأمل قرار گرفته است، هرچند هنوز نمی توان از زیبایی شناسی زشتی به مثابه حوزه ای غنی در ذیل زیبایی شناسی به معنایِ عام آن سخن گفت. ازاین رو، در جستار حاضر کوشیده ایم، با پرداختن به مهم ترین مسائل این حوزه تازه، به نحوی، درآمدی بر این حوزه پژوهشی عرضه کنیم. زیرا، چنان که نشان خواهیم داد، زشتی کارکردهای مهمی در عالم هنر دارد و، بالتبع، نمی توان و نباید از آن به سادگی گذشت. براین قرار، نخست به چیستی زشتی و انواع آن پرداخته ایم و سه نوع زشتی را از هم تمییز داده ایم: زشتی روان شناختی، زشتی زیبایی شناختی، و زشتی اخلاقی. آنگاه به مسئله مهم دیگر در این حوزه، یعنی کارکردهای بروز و ظهور زشتی در عالم هنر، پرداخته ایم. به عبارتِ دیگر، تلاش کرده ایم ببینیم که هنرمندان به چه اهداف و اغراضی انواع زشتی -اعم از روان شناختی و زیبایی شناختی و اخلاقی- را در آثارشان ترسیم و تصویر می کنند. و، درنهایت، نشان داده ایم که، همان طور که نمود زیبایی در آثار هنری کارکردهای خاص خود را دارد، ظهور زشتی نیز کارکردهایی دارد. کارکرد زیبایی شناختی، کارکرد معرفتی، کارکرد روان شناختی، کارکرد اخلاقی، و کارکرد پروپاگاندیک از مهم ترین علل بروز زشتی در آثار هنری اند.An Introduction to the Aesthetics of Ugliness: An Essay on Quiddity of Ugliness and Its Functions in the Art World
Much of the study of art has historically revolved around the concept of beauty as the most important quality of works of art, and while ugliness has occasionally been spoken of, it has often been used as an opposite or contradictory concept of beauty, and no more. But in the last two centuries, researches has gradually shifted to the concept of ugliness in the art world, and this concept itself, regardless of its relation to beauty, it has been focused and reflected on, although it cannot be speak of aesthetics of ugliness as a rich area under aesthetics in its general sense yet. Therefore, in the essay, we have attempted to provide an introduction to this field of research by dealing with the most important problems of this field. In this way, we first have dealt with what ugliness is and what kinds of ugliness there are, and then have distinguished three types of ugliness: psychological ugliness, aesthetic ugliness, and moral ugliness. Then, we have turned to another important problem in this area, namely the functions of the emergence of ugliness in the art world. And finally we have showed that, just as the appearance of beauty in works of art has its own functions, the appearance of ugliness also has its own functions. Aesthetic function, epistemological function, psychological function, moral function, and propagandic function are the most important causes of ugliness in works of art.
